The Reception of Foucault in Poland after 40 years

This one-day seminar will be focused on the reception of Foucault among Polish scholars representing various disciplines. The invited speakers are academics who wrote important texts in Polish about Foucault during the last 40 years or translated some of his texts into Polish. The goal of the meeting will be not only to share reflections on how Foucault’s thought was received in Poland but also to look for new possibilities of applying the foucauldian tool box to future investigations in areas such as Philosophy, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychiatry and Cultural Studies.

Therefore, the first part of the seminar will be covered by invited experts and each one of them will talk about different area of studies which was influenced by Foucault’s work. Then, the second part will be an open discussion about the new possibilities of applying foucauldian thought into investigations led by Polish scholars.
